Who We Are: Introducing SAFE and Our Mission to Empower Survivors
At SAFE (Southeast Advocates for Family Empowerment), our name says it all — we exist to create a safe space for survivors of domestic violence and their children to heal, grow, and rebuild their lives. But our work goes far beyond shelter. We are advocates, educators, and community partners working every day to break the cycle of abuse.
Our Mission
SAFE’s mission is to promote social change by empowering survivors and their children to lead safe, violence-free lives. We do this while partnering with the community to provide education and resources that foster healthy relationships and hold perpetrators accountable.
We believe everyone deserves to feel safe — at home, in relationships, and in their communities.
Who We Help
Every survivor’s story is unique. Whether someone is fleeing a violent partner, healing from past abuse, or simply needs someone to talk to, SAFE is here. We serve adults, teens, children, LGBTQ+ individuals, and anyone affected by domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, or abuse. No one should have to go through this alone — and with SAFE, you don’t have to.
What We Offer
24/7 Crisis Support
Our free and confidential hotline is open 24/7. Trained advocates are ready to help survivors create safety plans, access emergency shelter, or simply listen without judgment.
Emergency Shelter
For survivors needing immediate safety, SAFE offers shelter (as space allows), providing not just a secure place to stay, but also emotional support, food, and resources.
Support Groups & One-on-One Advocacy
Survivors can participate in peer-led support groups or work individually with an advocate to process their experience, set goals, and regain control of their lives.
Financial Empowerment
We help survivors navigate financial aid, build financial literacy, and rebuild economic independence — a crucial part of long-term safety.
Legal Assistance
From protection orders to court accompaniment and legal referrals, our team ensures survivors know their rights and feel supported every step of the way.
Community Education
Prevention is just as important as intervention. SAFE offers presentations and trainings for schools, agencies, and businesses to raise awareness and promote healthy, respectful relationships.
